Welcome to the Love Cafe

(204) 913-2350

A place to come and talk freely about "Love".

How about a change from routine - going to your book club, out for a drink or just watching T.V. - instead why not join us once a month in a relaxed atmosphere and explore the different meanings of "Love". I look forward to seeing you.

What is the Love Cafe?

At the Love Cafe people, often strangers, meet to drink tea/coffee and eat cake to discuss Love.

My objective is to increase conversations around Love to help people make the most of their intimate relationships. This could be with parents, siblings, friends or a partner.

The Love Cafe is a directed group discussion with no agenda, led objectives or planned themes. This is an open discussion group and not a therapy session.

The Love Cafe Offers-

A natural space that is respectful of others, confidential and accessible.

A group that does not lead people to any actions or conclusions and just lets ideas, thoughts and beliefs be explored.

When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew – William Shakespeare

I can remember the first time we walked alone on a windy day.  I had feathers in my hair and they blew into my mouth.  You looked down at me and brushed them away from my mouth.   We looked into each others eyes and saw a glimpse of eternity that day.  It was a future of the young with no harm, worries or practicality.   The freedom of time stretched ahead of us on the crisp mid-day morning many years ago.

It’s only now that I know so much more about love, the roller coaster ride, the tears, the screams of pain and hurt, the smiles, the dreams, the aching hearts, the illness, the stillness of death. And then onward we go as we look through the eyes of our friends, family or children secure in the love that they bring and its many meanings.  The future can still find us holding hands and returning smiles as we look into others eyes of love.

Allow yourself a short pause and think for a moment or two about today.  There’s nothing quite like it.  It’s unique and today won’t happen again tomorrow.

Today may be shaping up as a beastly day full of closed doors, parking tickets, final demands, sadness and grief.

So how is it possible to look on the bright side at moments like this when life feels like a World War I trench?

Well, the short and truthful answer is that it’s not always possible to see the silver lining.  But what we can persuade ourselves to do – slowly at first – is to confront our demons , recognise their shape and form, and then gently place them to one side and as we look outwards and search for a small crack in a grey landscape that will allow the light to shine through.

Try it yourself the next time you have a dark grey moment.  But first of all don’t forget to breathe….breathe…breathe.

“Many of life’s failures are people who didn’t realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

– Thomas Edison
